PipeAlert is a utility that reads data from a Unix pipe and displays it in a regular Aqua window. The usefulness of such an application might not be obvious immediately, but it can be quite handy indeed, especially if used in conjunction with cronjobs. Of course there are other ways to accomplish the very same task, but none of them is as elegant as using PipeAlert.

Pashua ist a tool for creating native Aqua dialog windows for Perl, PHP, Tcl, Python, Ruby, Rexx and shell scripts as well as AppleScript. The GUI elements which can be used for such dialogs include text input fields (single-line and multi-line), checkboxes, radiobuttons, combo boxes, popup menus, open panels or buttons. Moreover, it's possible to embed images or PDFs. Any data submitted from the dialog will be passed on to the calling script, which can (of course) use it for anything.

Fugu is a graphical frontend to the commandline Secure File Transfer application (SFTP). SFTP is similar to FTP, but unlike FTP, the entire session is encrypted, meaning no passwords are sent in cleartext form, and is thus much less vulnerable to third-party interception.

iHook is a graphical frontend for any commandline executable. It gives scripts a pleasant Aqua face, and allows script writers to provide graphical feedback without having to learn one of the higher APIs available for Mac OS X.
